SOLAR PANEL owners won’t get a promised boost inside the amount the Government pays for solar power.

This comes after the bill to increase the rate was amended by the Opposition.

The Government stated it had “reluctantly” supported alterations towards the solar feed-in tariff rate, which passed via Parliament last evening.

The State Government had previously announced it would enhance the tariff to 54 cents to encourage the domestic take-up of solar panels.Amendments for the bill had been introduced by the Liberals, who proposed keeping the tariff at 44 cents.

The Government opposed the amendment, nevertheless it was passed with the support of cross-benchers. The 44 cent rate will apply to existing consumers and new entrants until October 1, when a lower rate of 16 cents will be introduced.
